In versions of OS X 10.10+ and later we have seen the following behavior:
A computer querying for printers via Wide Area Bonjour will not recognize that a cached response and an authoritative response are in fact the same printer. (Correctly do a case sensitive compare)
-One will appear as lower case (cached)
-One will appear as upper case (authoritative)
The result is that a user will have difficulty adding a printer. Typically once a printer is added a user is then good to go.
The easy solution:
RENAME PRINTER IN PRESTO UI so that the name is all lowercase.
You may also:
1-Leverage mDNS / Presto Extenders via Direct IP
2-With uDNS Flush client cache. This should allow you to add a printer.
Open a Terminal Window:
sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist
sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist
After successfully adding, users are typically able to print without issue.
